How to save Tomato seed to grow next year
Equipment required:
Ripe tomato
Sharp knife
Chopping board
Sieve
Spoon
Kitchen towel
Non-Stick baking paper
Paper envelope
Pen
Step 1:
Using a clean knife cut your tomato in half through the stalk on to a chopping board.
Step 2:
Scoop the seeds from each half into a sieve and using a piece of kitchen towel rub the seeds until they come out of their jelly like sacs.
Step 3:
Spread the clean seeds out on to a sheet of non-stick baking paper labelled with the type of tomato and allow to dry overnight.
Step 4:
Once dry, loosen the seed from the paper and by folding the paper into a funnel, transfer the seed into an envelope labelled with the name of the tomato. Store in a cool dry place over winter.
