Frequently asked questions.

What is mindful gardening?

Mindful gardening is gardening while focusing on the present moment and calmly accepting one's feelings, thoughts and bodily sensations to achieve a state of mindfulness and calm.

Why is there a need for mindful gardening?

With your brain going at 100 miles an hour and with a lot of things on your to-do list it can feel impossible to stay in the present moment. Your brain is just so busy and you know its screaming out for a break.

Society can make us feel guilty for taking time for us, for slowing down. Mindful gardening allows you to start to give your brain a break whilst doing something that is still considered ‘productive’ in the small pockets of time you have available to you.

An appealing thought for those of us who struggle to rest.

How is it different from regular gardening?

Mindful gardening helps you get into the flow state quicker. You know that state when you are so deeply absorbed in what you are doing that time seems to slow down.

You’ll get there eventually with normal gardening but most of us have busy lives and don't have hours spare to spend gardening.  Mindful gardening helps accelerate the process so you find that headspace more quickly and my 5 minute mindful gardening techniques can fit into even the busiest of days.

How can mindful gardening help me?

Mindful gardening will enable you to:

  • Achieve a sense of clarity

  • Allow stress, worry and self-doubt to fade into the background

  • Feel good in the moment

  • Take that lasting sense of happiness and fulfilment into the rest of your day and even the rest of your week.

  • Take some time that is just for you, instead of rushing around putting everyone else's needs above your own.

  • Grow your connection with Mother Nature and find the headspace to reconnect with you, develop your self-belief and reconsider what you believe to be possible for you.

Why wouldn't I just pay someone else to design and create my mindful garden for for me?

You could absolutely do that. However, with the average cost of garden design being between £5-10k for a small garden project (before the cost of plants), working with me is more affordable. Plus you'll get all the benefits I wrote about in this blog.
